About Scruffy

Scruffy

Scruffy posing for the camera

Scruffy is well named. He's a bouncy sort of dog. very kind, but always getting into trouble, especially when he escapes from the garden and goes off hunting. And, every summer he has to go away to be clipped. When he returns he's neat and trim, but he doesn't look like Scruffy. We like him best when his hair is long. And the only time you can see his eyes is when he lies down and, even then, only one eye - a big, brown, friendly, understanding eye.

Home from the Barber's
( and fed up!)

Scruffy Lives in an old house in the country, with two cats, Cinnamon and Ginger. He should sleep in the woodshed, but he prefers Aunty's bed, so he can look out of the window.

Scruffy's House in the Country

When two children come to stay for the summer, it is Scruffy's job to look after them. He has to take them for walks and tell them stories. Cinnamon says he tells very good stories. One lovely summer's day, Scruffy tells the children about his adventures when he was a puppy and he was taken into the countryside and left on his own.

We know that Scruffy's story has a happy ending, but how does it happen? If you read the book you can find out.
